Studies
Gymnema contains chemical substances that reduce the amount of sugar absorbed by the stomach. It may also increase the amount of insulin released in the body and stimulate the growth of cells in the pancreas, where insulin is produced. Consumption of fenugreek appears to reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) have approved the use of fenugreek as a traditional herbal remedy for stimulating appetite. Chromium picolinate contributes to blood sugar control, helps reduce cravings for sweets, and aids in fat metabolism. Chromium contributes to the normal metabolism of macronutrients and the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels. The above information about Chromium constitutes official health claims from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Regulation No. EU 432/2012, No. EFSA Journal 2010·8(10):1732 [Chromium], 2010·8(10):1732, 2011·9(6):2203 [Chromium].
